Broken Bones and Pretty Trees!

Well what a week we have had here at the House! Mr 5 very cleverly snapped 2 of the bones in his arm whist playing at school last week! That resulted in me having to rush to school to pick him up and take him to the hospital emergency. He broke it so badly that we had to be transferred to Fremantle hospital to have an operation. NOT how I had planned my week to end and NOT how I had planned school holidays to start!

But despite the fact that he must be in pain, and is restricted with what he can do - (he has an above elbow cast that goes right down to his wrist) he is managing REALLY well. I love how kids can just "get on with it". He hasn't complained once about it!

And so after our little stay overnight in the hospital, on our drive out - something caught my eye. It was an awesome yarn bombed tree!

We had to have his arm checked again on Friday, so this time we took a little walk around the corner to look at the tree properly!

I must admit - I was a tad bit excited! I have never seen a "real-life" yarn bombing before.
(other than my little yarn bombed project earlier in the year).

I stood there for ages just admiring it. The time and love that had gone into beautifying this tree was amazing. And the fact that it was pretty much outside the hospital, where so much doom and gloom is. This tree must put a smile on many faces, and just add a bit of colour to what may be a bad day for many.

This tree has made me definitely want to properly yarn bomb something. I just need to learn how to knit. But I WILL do it!

Voices Of 2013

Yay! I was nominated for the Kidspot Voices of 2013 Awards!
Huge thanks to who ever nominated me!

Unfortunately I didn't make it into their top 100 Blogger list. Oh well.........

It definitely got me thinking though.... I've been thinking about where I am, and where I want to go.....I've been thinking about the direction and speed of things........ I must admit...I'm aiming high! But why not! You will never catch those stars if you don't jump for them!
So in the upcoming weeks I think I may take this little blog of mine in a slightly different direction - stay tuned for more details......

(In the mean time check out the fantastic Voices of 2013 finalists here)

Spoilt doggies!

Yes I have two very spoilt doggies!! I've been busy making them toys.  Well..... truth actually is our new pup is a bit of a destroyer - she chews everything...... shoes, toys, furniture, bras, even the walls! So even though both dogs have toys, I thought they may need more things to keep them occupied!

These 'bone' shaped toys they LOVE! I just made them from recycled fabric, and filled with the scrap fabric. That way they have a bit of weight to them - perfect for tossing in the air!

I've also made a couple of dog coats for these cooler morning walks. They look so proud wearing them! They actually aren't quite finished yet. I've got to add a strap on the underneath to hold them on.

But as I say, spoilt doggies.... they probably have nearly as many toys as my kids!

More Pouches!

Did you see the nappy bag wallet I made the other day? (It's here if you wanna check it out!)
Well I've re-named it The Nappy Bag Pouch! And I received some pretty good feedback from it - so I have been back in that little sewing room of mine, and made 5 more. I have listed them in both my Etsy store and on my Facebook page.

So feel free to pop by and have a look!

Todays Project - A Nappy Wallet

Organisation is not my strong point. I know that. Doesn't matter how organised I try to be, it doesn't happen. I have a terrible memory and time management doesn't always exist. PLUS just when I feel as though I am getting on top of things, I find myself wondering into new projects - normally ones with no necessity!!

But today was a little different. Although I have a HUGE stack of sewing to be done, and a (smaller) pile of unfinished projects to be completed (not to mention cooking, cleaning, and general house duties), I decided to use my bubs nap time to make a nappy wallet.

As I say, this project is a bit different. I actually need a nappy wallet to keep my bag tidy and make it easier to find things in there! So this little project wasn't a waste of time.

I used fabric that I already had, and made a button from the scraps to match.
It is kind of big, but it fits not only two nappies and the change mat (pictured) but also a pack of wipes, plastic bags and a small tube of cream.

It's not perfect, but it will definitely do the job!

Simple Sunday

I thought I would share with you a simple moment from today.

Whilst playing outside Mr 5 called me to the back door. He gets down on blended knee and presented me with this flower.
What a heart melting, mummy moment.
