A Peaceful City

Cherry Blossoms, Veggie Patches, Jazz music, and a giant frog pond......Where am I?
Right smack bam in the centre of Perth!!!
I was told about this great new Urban Veggie Patch created by the Perth Cultural Centre. But I didnt expect it to be so peaceful and inviting.
We had our afternoon tea sitting on the veggie patch wall listening to the buskers. Afterwards the kids explored the large frog swamp, and the music making garden.

I was pleasantly surprised by this visit into Perth. It has left me inspired to get into my veggie patch.
It was a great family day out!

Flowers from my boys

What better way to start a beautiful Saturday morning than with the boys surprising me with a lovely bunch of flowers from the garden!
They have re-discovered the joy of playing outside. They have fallen back in love with their bikes, scooters and mucking around in the dirt. Why? Not sure really, maybe being on school holidays has given them the time to play. During the school term, we are always so busy, with school, soccer, homework and general routine stuff, that by the time they get outside its too cold to play.

And honestly I dont mind the dirt. They have been digging, and planting, picking flowers and just generally enjoying themselves, and afterall, a bit of dirt is nothing that a load of washing and a bath cant fix!

Strawberry Explosion!

Ok, so I got to that point where if I don't make something, then I will explode!
A whole heap of inspiration had built up inside me, just wanting to jump out, but of course I had idea after idea, and by the time I got five minutes of peace to myself, I'd gather my materials, then change my mind, re-gather more materials, change my mind, then time was up.....that familiar MMMMUUUUUMMMMMM sound would occur, so I'd put everything away, and hope at some point I'd return!!

Well today was the day! And It only took me about 5 hours to do!! (actual creating time was probably 20mins, once you deduct time spent chatting to the neighbour, coffee with my aunty, giving bub a bottle, feeding the boys and taking 4 phone calls)

My inspiration was to pretty up a $4.50 Big W jumper, for my bubba. Again, I had a few ideas, but I settled on making a little strawberry for the front.

The red and green material wasn't quite as bright as I would have liked, but Im working with recycled material scraps, so I really cant be too picky!

I think it's pretty cute! Im quite pleased with my efforts. I still dont think Im satisfied, I want to sew something else..... but now its time to make dinner.......so some other time I guess!

School holidays!!

School holidays are here already!!!
How fast is this year travelling!!

Well like most mums, I've been trying to think of things to keep the kids busy without it costing me an absolute fortune! We normally do the rounds of the shopping centres and take part in their free holiday entertainment, but the boys are getting a bit bored of that, so time to think of something different!

On Monday I suggested maybe we go to the library? Well you should have heard them!! They were so excited!
I must admit, Im really lucky, the boys do enjoy simple things! Visits to the park, the pool (too cold for that at the moment), the beach, the library and the museum were all on the list of brain storming ideas we came up with!

And yesterday we got a bit creative and turned our playroom into a campsite! Yes we set up the four-man tent in our back room! And before you say anything, I know its a bad picture, but the tent is so big, nothing else will fit into the room!!

The boys even set up their BBQ with a piece of astro-turf, to give that authentic camping experience ( complete with knitted sausages!)
They spent the night in there, and I'm sure they actually slept better than they do in their own beds!

So now what for the rest of the week? I'm not sure yet....Im sure I'll think of something!!
