Ticking Off the To-Do List

Ta Daaa!!! My daughters room is finished!!!! I can tick it off the to-do list! I've had the curtain fabric for over 2 yrs now (I bought it 6 months before she was born) and finally I have finished making the curtains! I'm pretty please with them so I thought I'd share a pic with you!

More Pouches!

Did you see the nappy bag wallet I made the other day? (It's here if you wanna check it out!)
Well I've re-named it The Nappy Bag Pouch! And I received some pretty good feedback from it - so I have been back in that little sewing room of mine, and made 5 more. I have listed them in both my Etsy store and on my Facebook page.

So feel free to pop by and have a look!

Todays Project - A Nappy Wallet

Organisation is not my strong point. I know that. Doesn't matter how organised I try to be, it doesn't happen. I have a terrible memory and time management doesn't always exist. PLUS just when I feel as though I am getting on top of things, I find myself wondering into new projects - normally ones with no necessity!!

But today was a little different. Although I have a HUGE stack of sewing to be done, and a (smaller) pile of unfinished projects to be completed (not to mention cooking, cleaning, and general house duties), I decided to use my bubs nap time to make a nappy wallet.

As I say, this project is a bit different. I actually need a nappy wallet to keep my bag tidy and make it easier to find things in there! So this little project wasn't a waste of time.

I used fabric that I already had, and made a button from the scraps to match.
It is kind of big, but it fits not only two nappies and the change mat (pictured) but also a pack of wipes, plastic bags and a small tube of cream.

It's not perfect, but it will definitely do the job!

Birthday time!!

Happy Birthday to my little bub!! One already! This year has gone so fast!!

So my cake turned out really brilliantly...haha...well in the end it did.......

I kinda had a few issues with the first attempt of the cake. It rose up beautifully....nice and round and high...that was until I turned it out onto the cooling rack - that's when disaster struck and it fell into about 5 different pieces! As you can imagine my heart sunk! I had to start again! I even got up early, wrote myself a list, had the cake in the oven by 8.30 am. I thought I was on top of things..... Then I couldn't do anything until my hubby got back from the shop with more eggs. So what else to do? Well get creative with my disaster of course!! I turned it into cake balls!

So I just rolled the cake into balls - hoping like crazy that they would stay together. Then I coated them in pink icing and rolled them into pink and white coconut!

They were a big hit at the party! No body would ever have been any wiser except for my clever boys showing everyone the photos of my disaster - they thought it was hilarious!

So once the cake was made onto the rest of the party preparations! Putting up the bunting, and the rest of the food. Making party food is always heaps of fun - the fairy bread, popcorn, fruit kebabs - YUM. I always like to have fruit on offer. It really does surprise you that the fruit plate is generally one of the first to be eaten! I was working in a kindy last year, and made a point of always having a plate of fruit at class parties. Watermelon, strawberries and grapes are always popular!

And due to such hot day yesterday, we had some bottles of water as well as soft drink and fruit juice.

In the end our little girls party was great. Even with the heat, the disaster cake and the stress of party planning, we had a really fun day!

Happy Birthday Bub!

Bibs and Bits

Good evening!!! How has your weekend been?
Mine has been a bit crafty. I've been working on a little project for my soon to be born nephew. He's actually arriving tomorrow, so I'm very excited!!
As they live in the country I've sort of themed his little gifts.
Some 'farm yard' bibs, and Froggy bibs and a Froggy Taggy Blanky.
I hopefully can get some more made tomorrow for him.
Can't wait to meet the new little family member!!

Strawberry Explosion!

Ok, so I got to that point where if I don't make something, then I will explode!
A whole heap of inspiration had built up inside me, just wanting to jump out, but of course I had idea after idea, and by the time I got five minutes of peace to myself, I'd gather my materials, then change my mind, re-gather more materials, change my mind, then time was up.....that familiar MMMMUUUUUMMMMMM sound would occur, so I'd put everything away, and hope at some point I'd return!!

Well today was the day! And It only took me about 5 hours to do!! (actual creating time was probably 20mins, once you deduct time spent chatting to the neighbour, coffee with my aunty, giving bub a bottle, feeding the boys and taking 4 phone calls)

My inspiration was to pretty up a $4.50 Big W jumper, for my bubba. Again, I had a few ideas, but I settled on making a little strawberry for the front.

The red and green material wasn't quite as bright as I would have liked, but Im working with recycled material scraps, so I really cant be too picky!

I think it's pretty cute! Im quite pleased with my efforts. I still dont think Im satisfied, I want to sew something else..... but now its time to make dinner.......so some other time I guess!

Bibs for Bubba

This weeks project: bibs!

I realized this week that I have a dribbly baby! Well I suppose I've noticed before, but this week she must have been extra dribbly!! Every day she's been having multiple wardrobe changes- good in one way as I get to play dress-ups with her, and all her clothes are getting worn, bad on the other hand as the washing pile is growing and I hate ( and I mean HATE) washing!

So my solution was to make some cute bibs. It was actually really easy so I think my project for this weekend will be.... More bibs!!!
